About Evangeline

Evangeline is a customized 2022 Ram Promaster, only 16 feet long so she fits into parking spots if there’s swing room. She’s got solar panels on the roof, a big “garage” under the bed with a slide out storage drawer and a tabletop for tailgating. There’s hot water for the sink and a shower that hangs off the back, a heater, A/C, a stove top, a microwave, a small fridge and a “cassette toilet” (think chamber pot) tucked under one of the back seats. That’s for the cold, rainy nights when we don’t want to venture out to the campground toilet or into the woods.

We will also carry a tent and pads for back country camping, a big, screened tent to pop up and over picnic tables and for occasional sleeping outside, and our bikes. A kayak may be purchased along the way. We have learned that we can’t have it all, all at once. For example, the hot water heater can’t be on when running the microwave. And the A/C will sometimes run down the battery before the night is over – but that’s OK, it’s cooler in the wee hours. Laundry and showers in campsites, towns, gyms, Airbnbs and friends’ houses.
