How To Share Comments With Us
Greetings from Seattle, friends! We (most likely Catherine) will be cooking up a post with news from our stay in the big city this week, but I’m here now to provide some guidance on posting comments on this blog. A number of folks have told us they’re having trouble commenting, and this post is meant to explain how to engage with us — because we want to hear from you!
For a little background: this site is assembled from a few different services, and two of them are relevant to you:
Subscribe — This is the service that lets you get an email whenever we post a new story from the road. It uses a feed aggregator called follow.it. As of today, 45 of you are following us (we feel the love).
Comment — This is the service that lets you comment on our posts. It uses a program called Comentario. This is also the service that’s frustrated some of you when trying to add comments, so I’ll walk through it below.
To keep spammers and trolls from exploiting the site’s comment feature, you need to register with your name, email, and a password. Don’t worry — this isn’t shared with anyone and won’t result in you getting spammed. Here’s how to register:
- At the bottom of every post, there’s a Comments section. Click the Sign In button in the upper right corner of that section.

- In the login box that pops up, click “Sign Up Here.”

- In the “Create an Account” dialog, enter your email address and name, create a password that meets the listed requirements, then click “Sign Up.”

- Go to your email inbox, where you should find a message from us with the subject line “Comentario: Confirm Your Email.”

- Open this email and click “Confirm Your Email.” The link will take you back to the post, where you can sign in and post your comment.

One more thing - if you forget your password, click the “Forgot Password” link and you’ll receive an email with a link to reset it.
Thanks for your patience with this rigmarole — it’s necessary to keep the trolls out. We really do want to hear from you, especially if you have suggestions about your experiences in these great places, things to do, and so on.
